A BLATANT SALES PITCH
“Bumper Crop: Beginning with Apples” has just been republished and expanded with more recipes and some fun and interesting apple history, plus a new cover has been created that I think is really quite eye-catching. This is the ideal gift for apple lovers and cooks of all ages.
“The Adventures of Lily and Leon: A Soppy Tale” just made its long-awaited debut. This is a fable about two young fish who learn through trial and error that we’re all alike on the inside regardless of what color we are on the outside.
Both books are priced at just 99¢ through December. They are the perfect stocking stuffer for those who use e-readers. E-books can be sent directly to a loved one’s e-reader whether they use a Kindle, Epub (Apple iPad/Books, Nook, Sony Reader, Kobo or an e-reading app including Stanza, Aldiko, Adobe Digital Editions, and others). Please note: Both books can be purchased in a PDF format for those who prefer the convenience of Online Reading or reading a PDF on their PC.
RECIPE OF THE WEEK
Tangy Taco Roll-ups are a favorite that have been around for a while yet they remain a hit at every gathering. Fill flour tortillas or thinly sliced ham with this creamy south-of-the-border filling and you’ll have guests coming back for “Oh, just one more…”
BLOG OF THE WEEK
This week’s blog focuses on what we should be reflecting upon all year long rather than just during the holiday season. Amy Morgan, of Grand Island, NY, says, “My Writing Corner…A place to share my writing, the process of doing so and the part of me it comes from.” She writes with a fresh clarity and about the things closest to our hearts: home, family, friends, road trips and everyday events. She does what I often refer to as “writing between the lines.” In other words, she takes a seemingly ordinary person or common event and brings to light that which may otherwise be overlooked. Amy and I share a passion for writing; we’re also sisters in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Finding My Faith (her story is on page 88). After reading “A Good Day’s Drive” and “Magic and Belief” on her blog, the writer in me soared. I wanted to run to my computer and start pounding out more stories about hayrides, handmade gifts, and cookie exchanges we hosted during our years on the farm. Her stories might not inspire you to start a new career as a writer, but I think they’ll generate thoughts about what’s important in your life and how spreading cheer throughout the entire year could nourish one’s soul.

THIS WEEK’S ANSWER TO ASK CYNTHIA A QUESTION
Linda asked: Do you have a favorite appetizer recipe you can share?
My answer: One of my favorite standby recipes is Tangy Taco Roll-ups. A friend gave me the recipe many years ago, I put my own spin on it and it’s always a hit at parties. I’ve made it the Recipe of the Week. The roll-ups can be assembled and kept in the refrigerator for 2 days beforehand. When it’s party time, slice them and serve. The recipe makes up to 35 roll-ups, which is a generous amount that you’re going to need because they disappear quickly.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
If I’ve forgotten anything just give me a shout. My next posts won’t be until Jan. 3, 2013.
Have a terrific holiday!
